Welcome to the wonderful world of Windows! - I assume you're using Windows 95 or 98? I'm far from a Windows guru, but this sort of problem frequently has to do with a conflict with the modem card or external modem, which is hogging the serial ports. If you can easily disable the modem via software, you may be able to get things working. Failing that, you might consider a "FlashPath" floppy disk adapter for the D-220L's "SmartMedia" cards. These adapters cost ~$70-80, and are much faster for transferring files than the serial cable anyway. Another option would be a separate card reader that plugs into the parallel port - Lexar sells one for about $70 that is very fast. Hope this helps, wish I could tell you more!
