The cascade effect..in person ;(

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Little bug in my computer. Not something big; my computer-savvy friend says it's a tiny thing. Screwed up something. Which brought down Netscape and makes IE unusable. (More so than it already is.) Which prevents me from accessing the damn Web, and has for the past 2 weeks. If little things like that can happen, imagine how bad y2k itself will be.

Btw, I got a promise of funding for my enterprise..woohoO!!

Why don't you just reload IE or Netscape instead of sitting around for two weeks waiting for the problem to fix itself??

Y2K is not a hard problem it's the management that is causing trouble.

Hate those times when you need to reformat the hard drive and reload everthing just to clean out the pests!

That's good news Leo.

Welcome back.

LOL Why would you hate to say the best advice?
Macs RULE! And yes, saw with my own gleeful eyes that Ed uses a Mac on the road :-D

Hey, if a dummie newbie like me can take it out of the box and start cruising the Internet in five minutes, first time around, then anybody can learn to love their computer :-)
Easy is good.

Ed - I thought you were a serious programmer!

A Mac? Anything with less than 3 buttons that can't run a DOS prompt correctly isn't a real computer.

You think I can afford to buy a new computer right now? I've got a lot of other things to buy..such as silver coins, canned food, Stinger missiles for when those black choppers come around...

Had to wipe the entire damn hard disk. Good ol' Format C:. Did it at noon. Reinstalled Windows. Now I'm downloading Netscape.

In the meantime..well, I've posted a couple other threads. You can see what I've been doing from that ;)

wow... Ed said what I was gonna say!

Ed, glad you said it first!

awww Robert... you can run a three button mouse on the Mac no problem. Also, you can run Windoze via Virtual PC. And the new G3's come with USB and Firewire built in too so no more hassles about peripherals.

Leo... glad to hear about the biz funding!!! Best of luck and send me some pointers on how you went about getting the venture capital.

Sorry - I'm prejudiced. Prejuiced?

The only thing a Mac is good for is heating french fries. That's my li(n)e and I'm sticking to it.....
