Red Cross Brochures Are On The Way!

DEM is purchasing 1 million copies of the Red Cross brochure: "Y2K What You Should Know." (See the paragraph below on "Family Preparedness".) These brochures will be made available to county emergency managers and local Red Cross chapters in Minnesota free-of-charge. Pick-up and distribution methods will be the responsibility of local government. The printing is currently underway and at least one-quarter of the job will be available for pick-up at the Governor's Emergency Management Conference on March 10-11. County emergency managers or local Red Cross chapters with questions can contact DEM Y2K Coordinator Tony Schramel at 651-296-0470.

Family Preparedness

The American Red Cross has released a brochure entitled "Y2K What You Should Know" to help individuals prepare for Y2K and other potential emergencies. The information includes an overview of Y2K concerns and a specific checklist of what you can do to be prepared at home. All information from the brochure has been posted to the American Red Cross web site at http://www.redcross.org/disaster/safety/y2k.html , or contact your local Red Cross chapter for printed copies of the brochure.

(Or just click the link at the top of the page... We've formatted the Red Cross info for printing right now.)
