greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

hello, I'm looking for information about algorithms or method used by digital camera to perform white balance (grey world assuption, perfect reflector assumption, ...) Thanks in advance olivier

Hmm - that's pretty deep. I don't know if any of Dennis Curtin's information at www.shortcourses.com goes that far or not. I've occasionally stumbled over stuff on the 'web on color management computations, but have no hope of remembering where I found it, or how I arrived at it. I know that the color scientists at both Kodak and Polaroid have spent a lot of time working on this sort of thing, but don't know what journals this sort of stuff is published in. (Kodak does publish some white papers on various subjects, that are buried on their web site somewhere, at www.kodak.com - you might try using their search engine to see if you can tease any of it out - I've often been surprised by the obscure stuff I turned up there.) Other than that, about the best I can suggest would be to do a search on AltaVista for "color management", and then refine within that search-set using "white balance" or one of the terms you referenced, such as "grey world," etc. Wish I could be of more direct assistance, hope this helps at least a little bit!
