West Point Route/GARR rolling stock

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

I realize this will be a large question, but what I am looking for are rosters of WPR/GARR rolling stock for the 60's-70's period, as well as "modelable" photos I could use. I model the Western Pacific RR of that era, but I live in Atlanta now, so I would like to add a little "local" flavor to my little bit of California-in-Georgia.

Thanks,

Ken O'Dell

Check out the following Website. It has pictures and rosters for WofA, GARR and AWPRR, plus many others. This should help. http://www.dnaco.net/~gelwood/other/other.html Richard

One of the best sources for that kind (and amount) of information is to pick up a copy of "The Official Railway Equipment Register" at a railroad memoriabilia show. It has a listing of all equipment in interchange service for that particular month and year, covering all lines in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Private car owners are also listed. I found one a few years ago for January 1964, and find myself in it all the time to see how many cars of a certain series were still in service at that time. There's 2 pages of equipment listed for A&WP, GARR, and WofA for that month and year. These books also list points of interchange, and with what railroads. Hope this is of some help.

Bob Hanson has written a book on the Georgia Railroad that has many rolling stock photos. It is for sale by the ACL & SAL HS as described in our product catalog on this web site.
