Kodak's repair procedure

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

My Kodak DC260 is only about 3 days old. It has developed a problem and on Monday I'll be calling Kodak to get it repaired or exchanged before the problem gets a lot worse. It's not a big deal, these type of things happen, so I'm not very upset about it. My question is, how does Kodak deal with repairs? It seems like you ship it to them and about 5 days later they send it back to you fixed, or a replacement. Is there anyway to speed things up? Such as getting a new one overnighted and you send them yours (they keep a credit card number just in case you never send yours). If that's not possible, do you know how they ship the camera back to you? I'll overnight it to them, and it'd be nice if they'd overnight it back to me.

OK, I guess I'll answer my own question since I called them this morning.

The other way you can get a new camera the very next day you call is if you pay for that coverage they have. Which is like $130 for the DC260.

Otherwise it takes them about 4 days to send a camera back to you after they receive yours. I overnighted mine to them today, Monday, for like $20 so I hope to get a DC260 back by the end of the week *crossing my fingers*

David- Sorry to have not gotten to you in time to have any impact on the repair situation, but my experience (with the better resellers anyway) has been that you can frequently get the reseller to exchange the product for a new unit for you if you're that close to the purchase date (3 days). If they'll do it, this avoids a lot of hassle & delays dealing with the manufacturer directly. Let us know how it worked out for you!
