police scanner

OK I will admit it, I know nothing when it comes to Y2K. The good part is I am learning more everyday. My question is: Will my police scanner or CB work when all hell breaks loose?

I don't know either. Good question.

They'll work just fine, providing you have a power source to operate them. Scanners and CB radios don't use any type of datestamp or timer function that could cause problems. Anyone who tells you otherwise is pulling your leg (or wants to sell you a new radio).

I can plug my scanner into my cigarette lighter in my car. Don't you remember when that couple in Florida recorded Newt Gingirch's cellular phone call from their scanner in their car? You can also buy a handheld scanner. Even if police, fire, etc. are not transmitting, you can pick up ham radio operators who are. P.S. With living in a small community, you find out who's screwing who...better than listiening to Art Bell sometimes!
