28-135 IS and 540EZ US vs. Grey Market

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

I am trying to decide if it safe to get the grey market versions of the Canon 28-135 IS lens and the 540EZ Flash. I would like to hear from you if you have had experience with either of the grey market products. Thanks.

If you order from a reputable dealer, the only reason I have found to get U.S. products is rebates from Canon USA. I have a grey 380EX, and have had no problems with it in over two years. My 75-300 IS is a US version because there was a $50 rebate at the time I ordered it, and I would imagine that deal was cheaper, or I would have ordered grey instead.

Guys, they are the same, Canon grey or US. It's the warranty that alters the price. A knowledgeable Canon dealer will tell you the same thing. Only a couple of cheaper Canon lenses are made in , I think, Taiwan.
