Lack of Credibility

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I, like, many others, come to this site to get the latest on Y2K. I'm particulary interested in the technical aspects of Y2K. I've been a get-it for a long time now, but still have lingering doubts about how serious the problem really is. Many posts here are excellent. I've learned to select which ones to read by their titles and authors. Which brings me to the point of this post. Andy usually posts well thought out Y2K information. I find myself looking forward to reading what he has to say. And then he posts unsubstantiuated garbage about Anthrax Mass Vaccination efforts by the US Government! Makes me wonder why I came here in the first place.

Kind of like a sitcom that ran just one week too many. There are some good characters and some bad. Some who are annoying and some who are funny. Some intellectual and some emotional. Some that started in the beggining of the season and some who just have walk on parts.

(Actually it's starting to sound like The Breakfast Club)

I think it's a pretty good spectrum of people. Very good representation of what is going on in the world of Y2k. Maybe you don't like it but that is the happy little world of humans being.

Watcher, Y'all missed the point. What Andy did is post an alternative opinion, HEAVILY labeled as such, from someone who is NOT a box of rocks. Holly Deyo has a pretty good track record in terms of her contributions to the Deyo family website, and the ability to sift wheat from chaff. If she puts forward this opinion, labeled as such, she has done a lot of thinking and has talked to a number of sources available to her and Stan.

Andy simply offered this for consideration, as an explanation for something which has been bubbling under in the mainstream press for a few months, and has been very openly reported in the internet arena.

Some of us have been watching reportage of, and possible explanations for the grid-work "contrails" for a while.

Thanks for the support Chuck.

Watcher - you have to be able to think out of the box. The Anthrax post of course is totally unsubstantiated, (as are, incidentally, all the claims of compliance from entities world-wide. Untill rollover nobody will know if their compliant systems will work in the real world or not.) I posted it because it is newsworthy and other forum participants are alarmed at what might be going on - there was a thread recently on Anthrax and also the mysterious contrails seen all over the USA.

Y2K is much more than just code - If I see something that I believe to be part of the puzzle then I'll post it - I don't always necessarily agree with what is written in a post, but I usually try and label it as such, or at least the origin of a piece.

I have been accused many time of having lost my credibility because of my views on Clinton and the NWO - tough - your logic doesn't make any sense to me - I can live with that, this is not a popularity contest and I have a thick skin.

You think I've lost all credibility??? Hey, I've only just started :)

Later,

Andy

P.S. Watcher, If you want an "on topic" technical discussion come over to my imported data thread and stick yer' oar in...

P.P.S. Watcher

"Thought this was interesting in view of recent posts on military wargames and anthrax terrorism scares in California..."

You can't get much clearer than the above in labelling an article for the group...

I don't know why you came here either, Watcher. Why don't you just leave now? That's it, shoo... and take you're preconceived notions of what's 'wacko' with you.

Some people wonder why everything's so dark and unfathomable... they would understand if they could only remove their head from their a**.

Watcher,

Don't go away. You've already given a great reason to stay and that is there are many thoughtful, useful posts made in this forum.

As far as any occassional OT post made by me or anyone else I think there is a very easy solution. Don't read them.

In defense of Andy or anyone else who might post OT there may be as many reasons for doing so as there are off topic posts. One reason I can personally relate to is that sometimes it's great just to talk about or think about something else other than Y2k!!!

Even though I don't always agree with Andy or others just having that opportunity to disagree or voice an opinion is a great kind of therapy. I guess it's like another kind of unwritten benefit this forum offers.

As for the contrail issue I can say from personal experience that the contrails are out here. As for what they are and why? Well, if there was an answer offered by those who are behind the activity then perhaps there wouldn't be a need for such speculation.

I saw the Anthrax heading and didn't go any further. IMHO, Andy can listen to whatever music he likes.

I saw contrails over Wash.D.C. a couple of days ago. I've asked around about illness, and yes everyone knows someone who is ill, but remember its flu season, however I plan to keep asking just because.....

I should hope you'd see contrails over DC, what with Dulles and R.R. National, as well as the eastcoast air corridor, and the various military facillities around here - that's going to be one of the real telling points on Jan 3rd - all the folks inside the beltway who wake up at 5.45 am wondering what happened when the morning commuter flights do NOT start landing on time.

I think I'm one of the walk ons .

Contrails ? What contrails ? :o)

-- Mike (mickle2@aol.com), February 24, 1999.

Watcher,

Study Y2K a little deeper, and you'll see it interwoven with terrorism and chemical and biological weapons, and ... anthrax.

So many puzzle pieces beyond the code 'n chips.

Watcher, keep in mind that anyone can counterfeit anyone's address and name in a posting, so if one post seems not to fit in with others by the same poster, maybe it isn't by the same poster.

... I don't mean my remark to target that particular post by Andy, but just reminding of the general consideration.
