The REAL Scaremongers (humor)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Y2K is indeed a hoax and has been hyped to scare us, as any rational pollyanna can see. But what has been missed by everyone is WHO is behind this. The usual explanation is that the hype is being done by religous loonies and those who are in the survival products business. BUT IT IS REALLY A *CONSPIRACY* THAT HAS BEEN HATCHED BY THE BANKS, UTILITIES, AND WORLD GOVERNMENTS!!!

Lets start with the banks, and how they are supposedly so scared s***less about bank runs. The truth is, as Troll Maria and Deano are always telling us, is that BANKS ARE READY FOR Y2K TODAY, AND IN FACT HAVE BEEN FOR YEARS! But, banks HATE cash, they want to do everything electronically (direct deposit etc). Now, banks have managed to get rid of most of their cash, they only have like 2% on hand, but they are using the Y2K hoax as a way to get rid of this pidly amount. THEY HOPE THAT THERE WILL BE BANK RUNS!!! Once the cash is gone, then everyone is now FORCED to rely 100% on the electronic banking system, which will work just fine in 2000. (And Gary North is nothing but a PUPPET of the banking empire!)

You don't think that electric utilities have their hand in the electric generator sales business?? Of course they do!! Some, like Alliant, openly tell their customers to buy them, claiming that they may not be ready for 2000. But THE FACT IS THAT THE UTILIES ARE READY AND HAVE BEEN FOR YEARS!!! These de-regulation mad money grubbers are just using the Y2K hoax for their own ends!!

Come on, reason this out. If Y2K were anything like the problem is it supposed to be, don't you think that this would have been fixed a long time ago? Like "Oh yes our OLD systems would have had problems, but we FIXED them, because we need to stay in business" etc. I mean, isn't this what you would EXPECT to be hearing in FEBRUARY of 1999 for crying out loud??

Don't be fooled!! The Y2K hoax is purely a ploy by the banks and utilities and world governments to trick you. So, SHOW THEM a thing or two -- don't withdraw your cash, don't buy generators, don't prepare. They simply COULD NOT make a mistake such as has been purported with the Y2K problem -- thats crazy!!! And if they DID make such a mistake, well of course they would have told us outright the full extent of the situation, SURELY they would not keep feeding us these SILLY "we are working on it very hard, we will get there" lines of BS!!!!

This is certainly one of the more interesting bits of twisted logic that I've seen in awhile. I particularly liked the line about:

"SHOW THEM a thing or two - don't withdraw your cash, don't buy generators, don't prepare." - Pretty funny, King!

Why is it that when people talk about conspiracies, they always assume that there is one huge over-riding conspiracy that is responsible for everything that is wrong in the world? I mean, what you say here may be plausible and even likely TO A CERTAIN DEGREE, but to say that:

"The Y2K hoax is purely a ploy by the banks and utilities and world governments to trick you." - is the pinnacle of lunacy.

King, there are many forces at play in the world. There always have been. Certainly the "One World Government" thingy is one of the big forces at play right now, but the way you're describing it simply makes no sense. And the conclusion you come to makes no sense either.

No, I suspect that you're simply having a little bit of fun, and seeing if anyone will bite. It is afterall almost the weekend, and that's when the idiots start crawling all over the forum...

The Ghosts & President Clinton

One night, Bill Clinton was awakened by George Washington's ghost in the White House. Clinton saw him and asked, "George, what is the best thing I could do to help the country?"

"Set an honest and honorable example, just as I did," advised George.

The next night, the ghost of Thomas Jefferson moved through the dark bedroom. "Tom, what is the best thing I could do to help the country?" Clinton asked.

"Cut taxes and reduce the size of government," advised Tom.

Clinton didn't sleep well the next night, and saw another figure moving in the shadows. It was Abraham Lincoln's ghost. "Abe, what is the best thing I could do to help the country?" Clinton asked.

"Go to the theater."

Who knows - you could be more right about the banks than you think.

BTW - to silverbullet - a mainframe silver bullet was announced a week or two ago. A software widget that implements windowing on mainframes at the machine language level between the software and the file system. Don't ask me how it works - I have an idea but am not sure - I understand PC assembly language but the mainframe languages I know are all fourth generation database things. Just something I picked up in the stream of technical news.
