Monolith, Canyon de Chelly

In my opinion this is the most dramatic sandstone monolith anywhere. Is the hand of ancient man prohibited?

Imposing indeed. I like the composition, with the rock wall looming over the peaceful forground; makes an interesting relationship. The light looks a bit harsh and constrasty. What time of day? But good exposure for what you were working with.

Thanks Mike, It was somewhere around high noon. I spent several hours on the sandbar of the river in front of this magnificent view and made several exposures during that time with my 4x5 view camera. This image revealed the texture of the monolith best. I think this must have been a fine place to dwell for the people of that time. Dell
