Any resolution to twain driver conflicts between Cameras and Scanners in Windows?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Does anyone know of a solution to resolve the twain driver conflicts in Windows that make it impossible download Toshiba PDR-M1 camera images if a scanner is also used on the system?

After successfully downloading hundreds of photos using the serial cable supplied with the camera, I made the inexcusable error of using my scanner. :) After this the Image Expert software didn't recognize my camera anymore.

According to the Toshiba techician, the use of the scanner has caused a non-reversable setting in Windows which won't allow me to ever use the serial cable again. This renders my camera useless, unless I go an buy a $100 flash path adapter.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Don

Whaat?! The scanner s/w irreversibly altered your Windoze setup somehow? I guess I could believe it, but that's pretty weird, even for Windoze. No way to use another serial port? (given that this is the internet though, I guess you've probably got a modem connected ;-) I doubt you'd regret the FlashPath in any event (love mine, it probably tripled my use of the camera), but it'd be too bad if you had to shell out $100 or so just to get your camera working again! Do check pricewatch, you should be able to find a FlashPath for more like $80. Don't believe the prices from Best Stop Digital though, in case they come up cheapest. They appear to have a pattern of bait & switch on their customers, there's been lots of complaints on rec.photo.digital.
