Anyone know where I can get Katadyn Combi water filter inexpensively?greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread |
I used to get the combi from this company in Utah for around $165.00, but they no longer carry it. It is still too expensive for many relatives & neighnors of mine. Would anyone know what is Katadyn's U.S. Telephone or email address? And is there a place that sells it cheaper? Also, I like to just give a small solar radio (Retail for $28.95) & a solar flashlight(retail for $19.95) to relatives as gifts. Any suggestions on bargains? Thanks.

Ray,sportsmans guide has the solar radios (with a marginally useful handcrank dynamo) for a couple bucks cheaper than that. http://www.sportsmansguide.com

www.katadyn.comwill get you to a Texas store with the best price I've seen, at 175 (Ii think).
Seriously consider the MSR mini Waterworks and Waterworks.
Same quality ceramic, just the charcoal isn't refillable. BFD< it stops filtering out the chemicals. I'm more concerned about the biologicals anyway.
Oh yeah, the price is $60 for the filter and 30 for the refills at most camping stores.

I bought what I thought was a really neat solar flashlight from Real Goods for about $18.95. It was made to be used by bicyclists and was advertised to run for three hours. Being solar, it should be "emptied" of its charge every three months, and I have discovered that it runs for only about 15 minutes. Two emails to realgoods.com have been ignored.
