Hamasaki says WDCY2K lawyers becoming bearish on y2k

snipped from c.s.y2k today:

Good food and the lawyers (http://www.y2k.com and http://www.consult2000.com) were surprisingly interesting.

The slides should be accessable at those sites so I won't type in the revelations. Summarizing, these law firms specialize in Y2K issues and believe that the situation is more doomer than broomer, that a combination of procrastination and possibly ignorance, has put us in a precarious position.

They expect a panic toward the end of the year because the {government, corporate management, -bks-ers} has allowed denial to last far longer than it should.

When it happens, it will be worse because it was put off until the end. Instead of a year to gather up provisions, everyone will be trying to do it in November or December.

It's one thing to buy a little extra now and build up gradually. It will be horrible when half the population tries to do it all at once.

Yeah, I was there. Talked to Cory for a few moments. Had some interesting conversations with the lawyers. One of them had a great line for those in the audience who are working on Y2K projects: "Today you are a Y2K expert. A year from now you'll be an expert witness." Quite humorous, but probably (sadly) true.

The main problem of the forthcoming panic will be this: HOW WILL YOU REACT WHEN IT HAPPENS? Will you be there to guide the sheeple or will you be sequestered in your glorified foxhole? Remember, YOU know what will most likely happen and have taken appropriate measures. Please be kind to the newbie GIs and help them out
