more help?!-happy99 worm (virus)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I found I have the happy99 virus (or worm) in my internet email, and have tried getting rid of it as previous instructions stated. My computer only showed the file Ska, and not Ska.dll which are both to be deleted.Am I not finding it in the right place? Also, Wsock32.Dll is supposed to be changed back to Wsock32.Ska. My file still reads Wsock32.Ska, but properties shows a recent modification date. Does anyone know how to change this file, or if it actually needs to be changed? Thanks.

This appears to be real - not a hoax. See

This one's not a myth, kiddies, per an internal memo from the Progressive Virus person. It is fairly nasty!

CR My understanding is that McAfee has a way to fix it, but I'm not sure how.

The guy at the Myths page discusses this specific worm as well as other Trojan horses.
