Y2K disruption index?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Anyone heard of such a thing available? An index of major products, services, systems by country indicating the current and perhaps future degree of efficency of delivery due to Y2K issues. Maybe an historical comparison to some other global disruptive events. Seems like there is enough reliable data to put one of these together. Efficency of delivery would seem a better indicator than dollars lost as it is a more in-your-face sort of comparison.

What is the efficiency of power delivery right now? 95%? I've seen figures of 0 to 33% compliance for the power industry. So only 33% of the power industry will be available in 2000? Naturally there is a synergistic effect because of inter-dependencies, but I would think that would add to the severity of the index and not substract from it. I have a feeling that the figures without the synergistic effect would be grim.

I have heard people says that something will happen because of Y2K, but probably not the end of the world, something in-between. Well there is a lot of Real Estate in-between. Viet Nam, WWI, WWII, WWIII? are in-between. So where are we on a scale of one to ten?

Paul,

Fatal OO Flaws multiply like termites.

The conundrum is rates of extermination to rates of birth.

Supposedly, rates of extermination are exceeding rates of birth.

Oh FOOF!
