I used my Smartmedia Card in another device (my Rio to be precise) but now it doesn't work in my camera (Olympus 340L) anymore. Should I reinitialise/format the card? How would I do that? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Wish I had better news for you, but the answer may be that there's no way to reformat it back to digicam usage. It's been widely reported on rec.photo.digital that formatting SM for the Rio makes it unusable for use with digicams. Don't know why, AFAIK nobody's figured out how to undo it. The good news though, is that the original SmartMedia purchased directly from Diamond Multimedia are unformatted, work fine in digicams, and are incredibly cheap, at ~$45 (last I heard) for 16 Megabytes.
