smart media and flash memory card readers

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am looking for a smart media card reader, but would like one that will read flash memory as well in the event I purchase a Nikon (I have an agfa 1280 now). USB would be preferable, but not absolutely necessary. Places to look, please? Thanks, Elizabeth

Take a look at the SanDisk Imagemate line from mdiusa.com.

Also check the CameraConnectPro at www.actiontec.com it takes ATA Flash Cards, Compact Flash and SmartMedia. It's inexpensive and you will love it. Eric

I think Newer Technology makes a line of USB-based readers. Microtech (www.microtech.com, not to be confused with Microtek the scanner maker) also has a full line of reader accessories.

The Hagiwara USB FlashGate is SmartMedia only, for around $99 and available right now. The Microtech USB CameraMate is SmartMedia and Compact Flash, for around $89 and available in a few weeks. The Antec USB PhotoChute3 is SmartMedia, Compact Flash, and Type I, II, and III compatible, for around $109 and available right now.

Hope this helps.
