Corpse Decomposition

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

How long does it take for a corpse to decompose, be scavenged, etc., until it is no longer a health hazard? Factors would include temperature (would "keep" a long time if below freezing), humidity (desert vs. rainforest), sunlight exposure, types of scavengers, etc.

Also would depend on weight.

May not be enough lime around or willingness to dig holes.

I disagree. This is relevant to y2k. A shitload of people are going to die, at least if you anticipate an 8+. Dead bodies are themselves a hazard -they cause all sorts of diseases..

Post y2k "job"- Horse drawn cart going through town chanting "bring out your dead", ala Monty Python.
