FRUSTRATED IDIOT NEEDS HELP W/ SCANNER!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Have had this scanner nearly 9 months. Apparently, unlike power tools, I don't have the option of sending in the registration card. I am FORCED to register ownership while installing. The problem with this, is they want the serial #, and the one on the bottom of the scanner isn't good enough. I get this notice: INVALID SERIAL NUMBER. And it won't allow me to move on. I have to abort installation. There isn't a serial # on the CD that came with it, 800 phone number that doesn't work (or not from Alaska, anyway,,, want to call them & try for me? 800-777-3208), and the reg phone # says, " this number no longer in service." Shopping is extremely limited and costs $$ here (S.E. Alaska), so I'd sent away (K-Mart in Juneau) for it.......Image Reader Ultra..........Ultra cheap. Info Peripherals model FB735, www.infoconnection.com. I have explored, but can figure no way to bypass this part to continue installation. Am getting desperate enough to actually WRITE and real-mail a letter! gut feeling is they are no longer there. I found another reference to them on ZDnet; gave the same info I had, then When I tried to E-mail, came back as "maybe closed their site, or??? BIG QUESTION: IS THERE A WAY TO BYPASS ALL THE INFO- FEEDING CRAP? help!! P.S. Divorced, broke; buying a different one is out............ Thank You!!!
