A response from Sen. Armistead of Alabama

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I received this email from Sen. Armistead. Since I live in Kentucky, I do not know why he would be emailing me. Did anyone else receive a message like this. I do not know if this link will work or not.

Sen. message

Some excepts if the link fails... "the state is not ready and will not be ready in its entirety" "The state has given little or no priorty to this upcoming event" "The Federal government may not be ready on all fronts. Pre. Clinton says Social Security will be ready, but I have heard differently." "I beleive that our citizens should begin preparing for some inconveniences in starting in the last quarter of this year. The worst will likely be over by the end of the first quarter of 2000. But I am no expert on this subject and am only passing on the info I have been given." "There WILL be inconveniences, but we don't know just how severe they will be so we must prepare for the worst 'storm' that we can imagine. " It was signed Bill Armistead. (Note:I have not checked to see if this guy is legit) Again I do not know why I would receive this email but it is very enlightening.

Sorry, the link does not work. It was an email and I do not know how to get it here. Also, sorry the rest of the post ran together. Still worth reading.

Linda, very interesting post; however, the advice has too much of a "ring of truth" to have come from an actual politician, therefore, I say it's a hoax.

Puddintame-I have looked over the email again. It was forward to me by someone else in answer to an earlier post in which I asked if anyone had contacted their congressperson regarding Y2k. This was the answer that an Alabama resident received from her senator. In my earlier post I stated I have written twice to my congressmen and have yet to receive a reply.

I think it is legit. The reply is senator@armistead.org

Linda, I'd like to follow this up and find out if it's real. Don't most Senators have a .gov domain?
