Question about our NOTIFY feature

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Here's your favorite computer "expert" looking for advice again! I have notify working well with YAHOO pager. When someone posts to one of MY threads, the pager will notify me. Now, is there an option for me to get mail when someone posts in ANY thread where I have posted? It's hard to keep up with so much new stuff all the time! Thanx. <:)=

Don't know if you can specify which threads you want delivered to your eMail. Threads you start, yes. All threads, yes. Maybe eMail Mr. Greenspun and inquire?

"any thread where I've posted"?

Possible, yes. The machine knows "you" and can certainly search each reply as it comes in, match it against the orignating thread, and then filter through the whole database to find those threads you've replied to, then send new relies only matching both group.

But are you sure you can convince the database manipulators to do it for you? You've got to give them a reason to do the programming for you.....and in a free market - that means money. This thing is donated to us free, so they aren't making money reprogramming to answer your request.

Well, I for one would happily pony up for that feature in (or adjacent to) the search engine. And where are we supposed to pony up for the search engine??

Thanks for the info folks. Oh well, would be nice, but I guess not this week! I guess I'll just have to remember where I've been. <:)=
