What's the difference between a dietz and petromax lantern?

-- Eggbert (bfdasy@aol.com), February 07, 1999

Answers

1. The Dietz uses a wick, absorbs fuel up from the wick

2. Petromax uses a mantle, also has pressurized (pump up) fuel supply.

3. Dietz is equivalent to maybe a 10 watt bulb, Petromax to 400 watts.

4. Dietz costs about 1/5 as much as a Petromax

Got both

Diane at BritLyt is wonderful-- very helpful-- however...

I order a Petromax lantern, reflector, case, extra chimney, and extra mantles on 5/16. Received partial delivery last Thursday. No date on the rest of the shipment. Keep in mind that Petromax stoves can't be had for love nor money.
