Kirk, I am drawn to your image and the bold, vertical upward movement. I like the non-centered composition and your metering seems to be spot on. There's nothing that says "Northwest" like a Madrone tree in the fog. Great image!

I really like this beautiful image. I can't really find anything to find fault with other than the fact that I find myself wonder why you have left out the base of the foreground tree trunk. Nevertheless, a wonderful image--It's good to be reminded that timing and technique are more important than "amateur" equipment and "amatuer" film.

The lighting on the bare foreground trunks and the softness of the foggy background make for a pleasing shot. I,too, wondered what the image might look like with a bit more of the base of the first tree but assume valid reasons for the choice. In any case, I like the result.

I have to admit I wondered why I cut off the bottom of the foreground tree, too. To be honest, I'm not sure. My best guess is that I didn't know if I'd like the trail in the picture. Here's another picture zoomed out some (we'll see if the html works, otherwise you might have to cut and paste the URL). I don't think it's anywhere near near as strong.
