Has anyone written to their Congressmen concerning Y2k and did you receive an answer?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I have written twice to mine and still have not received an answer. Both times, I sent email including home address. I had read if you do not include your regular mailing address the email would not be read by anyone. Today I am sending letters by snail mail.

Point here is, when I wrote about the sex scandal, I received replies immediately. When I wrote about impeachment process, I received replies immediately. When I wrote about Y2k issues, questions and concerns, I received nothing.

Is anyone else having the same problem? I am being ignored. WHY?

Hello Linda,

I wrote my congressman and received a letter and a very thick packet of very good info. on Y2K in the mail from him. I was very impressed and pleased. As usual, my congressman is on top of things. I cannot answer why you are not getting a reply. Maybe your congressman does not get it.

I've sent email to the people in charge of Pennsylvania's Y2K websites (PA is ranked as #1 in the Y2k race - but the website hasn't been updated since last October. Go figure! Just more political bulls...) I haven't heard back from either one and doubt that I will. Maybe I should try my congressman next. Good luck.

You are right about including your snail mail address, they won't respond 99% of the time if you don't. And also some will not respond to e-mail, but you at least will get a robot response telling you to write a snail mail if that's the case. I've written mine and yours and everyone else's (not that reps from other constituencies will respond - that's a given). I received one respone back pointing out that they have this committee and that committee and Koskinen, etc. I also wrote the Senator that I interned with in college, you'd think I'd have a good chance of getting a response on that one right? Not. A friend of mine wrote her's last summer and received a personal response from him (which is highly unusual, usually their aides and interns write the responses). He told her to buy some flashlights, candles and blankets and that there was no need to panic. He made the sarcastic comment that he definitely didn't want to be holed up with some AK47 totin yuppies.

yes, i emailed the congressman and both senators, and got snailmail replies, generic ones. i also emailed the senate y2k committee, and got an automatic email response. i will write again after the impeachment trial is over.
