Lichen covered rock on Beach, Point Lobos, CA
Elan II, 100/300-4.5/5.6, Velvia, exposure unrecorded

This was meant to be an abstract shot...I'm not sure how I feel about it. So I thought I'll post and see what you think. I'm sure there will be a lot of cropping suggestions considering all the empty space - the ones I tried didn't work, so I'm submitting the full image.

I like the harmony between the placement of the wave and the lichen on the rock! I think a stronger diagonal composition would add tension and give the image a lttle more "dynamics" (for lack of a better word). Think along those lines if you do crop.

By the way, there is nothing wrong with "empty space", per-se. White space is an important part of graphic design. :>

This is probably nitpicking...the scan looks a little flat. I shoot Velvia almost exclsively and would expect more "punch". Don't sweat it though, scanning is an art.

Overall, with a slight crop (at an angle to strenghten the diagonal) and a small tweak of the gamma curve, this is a very cool shot, I think. It's so easy to overlook this stuff at the coast. Every time I see a shot like this, I kick myself.

Bhaskar, I tell you how I feel about your shot, I quite like it. Very much in fact. My inclination initially was to put the water line on more of a diagonal, but the more I look, the less sure I am about that. Personally, I think the "empty" space makes the shot.
