Can you recommend a Digital Camera w/voice annotation

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am looking for a digital camera that takes great pictures, especially as the sun just starts to go down. I also want to be able to talk to the camera as I take pictures so that I know the name of the people that I am shooting. You see, I am related to a church group and every weekend we do baptisms. As each person goes to the pool, I would like to say the name of the person and then take their picture. Is this even possible?

Please let me know any thing you know....thank you very much ;)

This is indeed possible, although getting the sound and pictures back together again in the computer is another matter. The Kodak DC220 and DC260 both have voice-annotation capability, and even better, will play back the annotation in the camera! Thus, you could play back the annotations when you're back in the office, note the people's names, and then download the images. We have reviews for both the DC220 and DC260 on this site. Of the two, the DC220 would probably be the best for your needs, as it's the least expensive, and does a bit better in low light. The Canon PowerShot Pro70 also has voice annotation (I think - don't know without checking our own review), and does very well in low light, but is considerably more expensive, and is only just now *about* to begin shipping in the US. Hope this helps, good luck!

In my search for cameras I think the sony mavicas f71? f81 and f91, Ricoh 4300 and maybe Nikon cp900s can take sound also. The sony uses floppies and make for good way to store what you need. I don't know of the other criteria you require since I don't have a camera yet for my purpose. Carefully sift thru reviews here and at zdnet.com
