this was taken about an hour before he caught the gopher he's eating in last weeks photo.

An interesting alternative prooving not all shots need to be crystal clear. I can really feel the cool morning mist and I think a picture that can provoke some feel or emotion is worth capturing.

The brightness of the eye really makes the image. It jumps out of the rest of the image and portrays the intensity of the bird looking for breakfast (or dinner). Hey, it's even got a catchlight. Good work.

A primeval phantom lurking in the fog, but with a bright yellow eye. Very nice indeed!

Very nice shot Greg, I don't remember ever seeing such wonderful sidelighting within a fog. When I look at this image I am instantly drawn to the golden eye with it's intense stare. I feel one could make this a stronger image by emphasizing the shining eye within the fog. If the subject was just the intense golden eye, the left one third and the bottom one third don't add anything to the image. It all depends on what you feel is the subject. I was also wondering if you shot a vertical of this image to catch the reflection of the heron.
