Soundcard

Ok - I've decided to take the plunge and buy a new PC...

I want to connect the K2vxs (ver 3.18j) SCSI port to the PC and read from the PC's hard disk.....

1) Is this possible or just "not recommended" ??? 2) Can I also daisy chain my Cd-Rom reader that works fine now with the K2VXs ...? And in which order should I chain them ??? 3) Does this mean that I need to specify a SCSI hard disk in my new PC or can the K2VSX read EIDE drives ?? 4) Which soundcard is the most compatible with K2VXS ???

Sorry to bother... Please point me to another (Web) source if this is not the forum .. Many thanks, Paul

Paul.

Yes you can connect the K2 to the computer and share a drive. No, the K2 cannot read EIDE drive, only SCSI. Which soundcard?? Do you mean SCSI card?? If you mean SCSI card, stick with anything from Adaptec.

If you mean Soundcard, thats a different bag of worms.

Hi Mike, Sorry for the confusion.... I named the post "soundcard" while talking mainly about SCSI disks... I wish to use a hard disk with my K2VXS. I am about to specify the configuration of a new PC.... I also have a CD-ROm that plugs into the K2VXS' SCSI connector and I will need that online too to get those extra samples whenever I need to. I would also like to connect an IoMega Zip drive to the K2VXS because this is much more portable for gigging purposes etc.... I would also like to be able to share the drive on my PC with my K2VXS ... Yes, I want it all !!!!!

Here's my dilemma:

So do I:

1) Specify the cheaper EIDE hard disk in the new PC or, as per your posting, make sure it's a SCSI disk so that the K2VXS can read it..? 2) From your post, I guess that the K2VXS connects to my new PC by SCSI cable from it's own SCSI port to a SCSI card of the new PC ???? 3) If I want to have both an Iomega and my Cd-Rom Reader online too in this SCSI chain - can you suggest the order in which to so connect? 4) If I simply want to have as an accessible disk, an IoMega 100Mbyte Zip drive (without going through all the torture of installing an internal hard drive in the K2VXS...) should that IoMega also be a SCSI version (as opposed to a Parallel port version) ...?

Many thanks,

Paul
