[I]n order, that HE MAY ACCOMPLISH BY CRAFT AND SUBTLETY, IN THE LONG RUN, WHAT HE CANNOT DO BY FORCE AND VIOLENCE IN THE SHORT ONE. (emphasis NOT mine)

Anybody know what this is from & to whom it refers?

Anonymouse, I left my disc in the mountains so I don't have all my bible translations. I suspect that this is a paraphrase of the King James version which follows...(Dan 8:25 KJV) "And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand."

I suspect it is a reference to Caesar. Gotta get my books out but I do not think it is a reference to what many call Antichrist. Best I can do without my books.

Email me if you want more info.

OK, ok. It's a quote from Thomas Paine referring to King George III and the good king's behavior that started the first American Revolution.

Many paraphrases of the Bible. Bill Clinton may very well be an "antichristian," I don't really know, seems goofy but I don't know that I would label him as such. I do believe that whoever wrote this did take it from a paraphrase of the King James mentioned above. By the way most paraphrase's of the Bible are goofy.

I'll be up in the mountains come Friday and will try to do some research on this for you. If you want to know things I can answer some for you. However this forum is not for teaching the Bible it is a y2k forum. Trying to fool around is not sound!

If you know anything about the Bible, antichrist people have been with us since the beginning. I do not care what you think or try to do, facts are facts.

Dunno.. Could be biblical or it could have come from the Federalist Papers, or the Anti-Federalist papers. Has that ring to it.
