What do your electric companies say (or NOT say?)

I have just reviewed CP&L's (Carolina Power and Light)site for any updates to their "Y2K Statement". None since 1998. The heavily java-ridden and graphic laden site is another obvious attempt to deter individuals from copy/pasting their statements in whole.

CP&L's statements are horrifying. Their GOAL to complete their newly assigned "Phase II", which addresses embedded systems is August 1999. The embedded systems list includes: chart recorders, data loggers, calibration equipment and dosimeters, end user computing hardware and software, plant and corporate facilities, and business relationships with key vendors, suppliers, and customers.

The nuclear generated electricity issue is not addressed separately. CP&L generates 31% of electricity by nuclear means. They do not publicly address the NRC compliance June 30th deadline.

Their "Position Statement" at the end of all of their page says it all. They can not guarantee continuous power. They encourage people to "review your contingency plans".

What does your electric company say? I'm interested in reviewing other policy statements and publicly issued compliance statements from other utilities.

Thanks, Mr. K
