Coolscan 2000 batch process

I am interested in the Nikon LS-2000. I want to do batch processing of slides. Is this my best choice? Also when you batch process do you have to preview each scan or can you just let it run on its own.

AFAIK, when you batch-process slides, the ONLY way you can do them is to let the scanner run on its own - there's no way to preview images of quantities of 35mm slides. (You can do this with APS, but not slides.) The LS-2000 certainly seems like a good choice for this, as it's default scans show excellent color and dynamic range. One note though - the bulk feeder has a reputation for jamming with cardboard slide mounts (the type most of us have boxes of). Quite a while back, I saw notes on the Nikon tech forum about fixing the problem by shimming the slide gate with a thin piece of plastic, so no more than one slide could fit into the opening. As I recall, the fix was pretty simple, just a thin piece of plastic on the surface the slides will press against, to make up for the thinness of the slide mount. - Hope
