abalone refractions

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nature Photography Image Critique : One Thread

It was well below zero with over six feet of snow outside. My shutter finger was itchy, so I started looking for things in the house to photograph, and I found wonderful patterns inside a red abalone shell. It was photographed in direct sunlight with a 200 macro on Velvia.

Terrific! This is one of those "patterns in nature" that we tend to walk by daily, but you've managed to capture it in a rather impressionistic way.

A worthy subject and a nice result for an itchy sutter finger. A nice rendering of colour and patern.
