We can only hope it doesn't come back. One small step for man; one giant leap for manking.

GN's forums have a fatal flaw; they weren't built on a super-power MIT computer system like Yourdon's. What's going on at North's has happened three times now in the last year, the site memory gets overloaded and "flushes" itself. And all the old posts are gone, except those stored on mirror sites. Hopefully the mirrors are on more powerful computers than the original site.

It's an example of how more people are looking into Y2K. The flushes are coming more often. Fist one was six months ago and then things were good for four months and now it's only been since Thanksgiving. Unless there are changes at North's I say expect these problems almost every month as more and more people get alarmed.

Hopefully this site won't have such overloading problems with the computer itself, although we have been seeing server and comm system jam-ups here. I'd hate to see headlines reading "Y2K-Whackos Crash MIT Cray". Not only would the press brand us "Y2K domestic terrorists" but we'd be labelled as "cyber-terrorists" also. And I'm sure they'd try to take away our rights to access mice and keyboards.
