How cold is COLD to a Hawaiian?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : About Hawaii : One Thread

I often wonder what cold weather must feel like to those unfamiliar with 'winter' weather. Where I live, true cold is 10 degrees fahrenheit or so. Do Hawaiaans shiver when the thermometer drops to 65?

Come on, we're not that bad...When it hits 60, that's cold ;))) Well, you have to figure that the average day time temperature is 80 degrees with winter months about 78 and summer about 85. Night time temperatures are about 10 degrees less. So 60 at night is long underwear weather. You also know why I don't live where you live ;)))

FYI: The lowest temperature recorded in Hawaii was -11 degrees F on Haleakala on Maui and the hottest was 100 degrees in Puna on the Big Island.
