A Plea to Natural Gas Engineers and Line Workers

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Please, if you work in the natural gas industry, and are an engineer, line worker, or other gas-industry insider, could you please read and comment on the lengthy, fascinating, albeit rather damning report put together by Bruce Beach, National Coordinator, Y2K Network, at:

www.webpal.org/report.htm

It would provide a great service to us all if you would please comment and offer your expertise.

If you do not work in the industry, you still must read this report! It is essential to understanding what really is problematic about Y2K and utilities.

who is the idiot that can't learn to operate cut and paste and must insist on a direct link that requires that someone else do the typing?

This"oh, here's a hotlink" "gotta have a hotlink" mentality is ego building bs.

folks, get off your ass and learn to use your computer.

"folks, get off your ass and learn to use your computer. "

Yes!

To get your "browser" (Internet Explorer or Netscape, for example) to go to a web-site, you need to type a "Universal Resource Locator" (URL) address in the "address" field at the top of your browser.

Highlight the URL (and only the URL) you want to go to, such as is often posted here (assuming it is not already a hyperlink) using the mouse. While the URL is still highlighted, press CTRL-C (or click Edit/Copy) to copy the URL to your "clipboard" (technical jargon). Click in the "address" section in your web-browser and press CTRL-V (or click Edit/Paste) to copy the URL from your "clipboard" to your browser, then press ENTER.

If you don't already know how to do this, PLEASE LEARN. This is a very basic "Windows" technique useful in most programs, including your web-browser, word-processor, database, spreadsheet, etc.

I'd rather sit on my ass and have you do it. Do you know why? Because I can. Now doesn't that just piss you off?

Nope, I deal with morons every day. Why would another one piss me off?

Besides, Arnie has taught enough of us to cook book a hot link that it's ok if you don't want to do the cut n paste........just don't necessarily wait for one of us to hot link it for you if it looks like it might be vital.

I very much appreciate when people take the time to post a hotlink. It helps me organize my reading and research. I can right-click it to open the link on a new window which helps me read/compare from the thread to the given link. I can use the hotlinked site in this new window as a springboard to research the site or reference links given without losing the forum. Hotlinks save me a lot of time and agravations, since I spend so much time on this forum.

Thanks Kevin, I noticed you and several others often transfer given sites into hotlinks.
