I remember seeing an advert in a gadgets magazine, which was for a drop in Digital CCD/Memory unit that worked in a 35mm SLR. It was basically the same size as a 35mm roll of film, and slotted into the SLR, enabling you to use your existing SLR, Lenses etc..

Does anyone know if these are in production, if they are any good, and how much they cost.

Haven't made it into the real world yet. You may find other info on them here, if you search on the word "Imagek", as that's the company responsible for them. They also have a web site, at www.imagek.com, but so far it's a concept/lab prototype only.
