Command center??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I live in a small town .We have a local newspaper that comes out once a week.In last weeks edition, there was an article stating that our county Emergency Management office is being completely renovated(with Fed grant money ) to include two new offices and a command center. As I said, this is a small town and most people were not even aware that we had an emergency management office.

There was also an advertisement asking for emergency management officers, evacuation officers and emergency training personnel at a nearby nuclear power plant. The list went on and on, at least fifteen jobs offered.

Hi Littlesister. Hmmm, interesting. You may want to check out the thread called "Consider Taking FEMAs Neighborhood Emergency Training As Additional Y2K Prep" under recent answers.

p.s. Did Grandmama ever get her check? What happened?

Somebody recently posted a thread about a lot of FEMA ads. At least in the Classifieds they certainly are gearing up. Add that to the $10 Billion anti-terrorism announcement Clinton spun last week, emphasizing computer security. Look at what they're Doing, not saying. This is all an amazing thing to watch. Hope ppl are paying attention.

Littlesister,

Near as I can tell there is a huge push to set up Emergency Management centers and training classes around the country. Its because of the nuclear power plant that you rate. FEMA is the lead agency getting things prepared. The other link is Y2K and terrorism. Threads:
