We've got the real deal here and that's all there is to it. With the recent increase in quality play from various players (especially the newbies), this is the place to be on the net if you want to hang with the big boys!JoustGod

Dave approached me once about the state of his recording archive... It went a little, a little something like this: [ names changed to protect the famous :o) ]Session Start: Tue Dec 15 09:10:55 1998

wanna help me out with some INps? :) how do you mean? i haven't really kept up with e-mails, but i don't think i have received toom any i have around 3000 of them, and lots of scripts to do searches, high score tables and stuff - did you see marp.retrogames.com? i had problems resolving that site mosto f them time do you mind if i use any from there? i think it would be good if the collection stayed together - how would it be if I put the whole marp site on your site? that way you don't have to deal with people emailing .inp files - it's all automatic that would be great if you wanted to do that do you have space for it? but how do the scripts work on a NT based server? isnt retrogames on unix? I have TONs of space now without the roms :) i'm not sure of the size, but something like 100 megs is about right it should work on NT with a little tweaking. hmm sounds good the CGI scripts are Python based - I have a Python for NT you do understand however that I don't have access to give you logon access, and all updates go through me does the server allow CGI? the counter is CGI based, so yea however the file storage is on a SUN machine and the html is on a NT machine would there be any way that I could keep control of the site rather than having to go through you? like a subdomain or something? im trying to get subdomains from my admin for icex's site and i will be getting another couple soon they just aren't exactly quick to respond if you klnow what i mean heh do you think that would allow you to give login accounts to IceX and me? (can you remote login on to NT anyway??) possibly in the future however, right now they are very concerned abotu security issues especially with the whole IDSA thingy yeah. i'd have through that with subdomains it would be well easy to separate out who can do what - each account has a different login and no permission to affect the other accounts it probably is but as i said they aren't exactly quick the respond until the 1st of the year, i can';t really blame them though so with these .inp files then - shall we leave it that I'll move my site to your server once your admin people allow me to do that? i don't want to wait for the admin to get off his butt i want to build an archive of those iNPs sicne I have the space to do so - [ conversation drifts off topic ]
In summary, I wouldn't mind having MARP on a server with the speed and popularity of Dave's server, but I don't want to give control of the site of to him.
Did I do good?

In your 'citycon' recording of 749,800 - do you start with too many lives?Should I delete your recording, or what?
You say 'TG settings used', but I can't find the TG settings for citycon...
And I'll be updating for beta 2 as soon as I can get it unzipped & find out what's new in it...
Chris.

When confirming with Walter back some time ago, he's been so busy organizing some many different events and working on his web page that he can't get around to putting TG settings for every game available to date. So what one should do if they can't find the TG settings for a particular game is to look closly at the settings to change, and then try to set them somewhere along the middle as best as possible. Sometimes you may have to weigh a game that has a even number of choice's to set like setting a difficulty from 1 to 4. If there is another option of setting let's say men awarded and there are also 4 choices, then the difficulty should be set to a setting of "3" and then comprimise the extra men awarded to a setting of 2. Sometimes this may have to be switched. It's also possible that a game's default is pretty much allready set to somewhere between easy and hard so I would note this in the description box as default settings used other wise I would note exactly what I changed unless there is a TG setting logged for that game. If any player has a question about a setting for a particular game they can e-mail me and I will figure out the correct setting for the game and then confirm it with Walter Day to see if it will be an official setting to add to his archive.Regards, Steve Krogman

well, YOU DID GOOD! it seems there is this HUGE dark rift in the emu "scene", alot of people hate dave and his tactics...so what if its player hating and tall poppy cutting :) who cares ?!dave aint shit...KEEP with retorgames, that place is GOING somewhere while daves is stagnant with his black dying site...sure its got 20mil hits...big deal! retrogames is more friendly too, and not greedy hype like "i added highs to these games" that takes more lines than it has to while other unimportant nes is skipped...daves is HYPE...probably hyped his page more by emailing/paying mags to do emu related stories and print his www in it...i could believe that
and as for hit elitest ideas and beliefs ^_^ hahahahaha
well, glad you DIDNT fall into his hits plan :) and hoping you dont...even tho it looks a little better with teh space and stuff, the losses are more
Krool its all in a name
