Y2K terrorism window

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

There is a deep, hidden agenda in Clinton's message concerning biological terrorism over the next few years. I'm sure that his advisors have pointed out the obvious. Most intelligence agents of any country choose to strike when the opponent displays some form or period of weakness (with SOME exception to the USA: example: Moslem Holiday). It is painfully obvious that Y2K can be perceived as such a "window" of opportunity.

This gives us as citizens 2 reasons to have at least a months worth of preparations on hand. If your city is quarantined under biological warfare attacks, would you be able to wait out the period with the provisions you have on hand?

It seems to me that the groups of people least able to grasp these scenarios of hardship are the people who have endured the LEAST hardships during their young lives, by no fault of their own. Ending with the Vietnam war, there has not been real crisis of a long term nature. Therefore, the realization of actual hardships, world, or financial crisis situations are in essence....fiction. Older adults (40+) have worked hard to ensure that our children "have it better than we had it", as we had learned from our parents. The results over the past 29 years seems to have yielded apathy, greed, and laziness. This contributes HIGHLY to the denial of Y2K possibilities. It is too hard to imagine actually having to raise food or deal with alternative sources of light/heat/home facilities. Of course, these statements do not apply to 100% of the population, however, it would encompass the majority. Also, I have 50 and 60 year old constituents that are in severe denial of Y2K possibilities to the point of not wanting to even mention or discuss it. The thought of even temporarily going back to the hardships of their childhood, being born in or around the depression, is too much to bear now that they live 5 minutes from 8 grocery stores, live in upper class "I've Been Moved" neighborhoods for the past 15-20 years, and bask in many home luxuries.

Maybe the "having it better than we had it" philosophy has come to our collective detriment. Mr. Kennedy

I will state, before someone misses the unstated but applicable point, that Y2K will be temporary, with no solid time frame. However, as history shows, humans strive to build or repair. Just because the Great Depression actually came about, society did not dwell nor stay in that oppressive condition. The same will be true in this situation.

Mr. Kennedy, Is the above your actual e-mail address. I'd like to be able to touch base with you since you're in this area. I choose not to put my e-mail address on the web.

Airman could be court-martialed for refusing vaccine

Thursday, January 21, 1999

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/ article.cgi?file=/news/archive/1999/01/21/state0200EST0181.DTL

(01-21) 02:00 EST TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (AP) -- An airman faces a possible court-martial for refusing an anthrax vaccine that's suspected of being linked to Gulf War illness.

The Pentagon ordered the shot for all 1.5 million active-duty service members and 1 million reservists. Airman 1st Class Jeff Bettendorf refused, and was told he could be court-martialed as early as Friday.

Military officials insist the vaccine is safe and necessary because rogue nations such as Iraq are suspected of storing a large cache of anthrax in their arsenals.

Anthrax is an infectious disease that occurs naturally in livestock. Its dry spores can be stored in weapons and even microscopic amounts can be fatal.

But Bettendorf and a growing number of military personnel have complained about the possible side effects of the vaccine, including headaches, nausea and dizziness. Critics also worry it could lead to cancer, lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome and infertility.

More than a dozen Marines have refused the shot.

``I can tell you there are a lot of people who are afraid of getting this shot,'' Bettendorf said.

Bettendorf was demoted from senior airman to airman first class in December for refusing an earlier order to be vaccinated. He said he agonized for months whether to get the shot, but decided against it even though his refusal could lead to more punishment and an early end to his Air Force career.

Bettendorf's fate rests with Brig. Gen. Steven A. Roser, the commander of Travis' 60th Air Mobility Wing, who will decide whether the airman should be tried at a summary court-martial.

Under military law, anyone convicted in a summary court-martial faces 30 days of confinement, a demotion in rank and forfeiture of two- thirds pay for one month. Conviction would not mean a dishonorable discharge from the military.

Travis spokesman Maj. Mike Halbig said if Bettendorf is punished, it will be because of his refusal to follow an order.

``The reality of life is none of us have the luxury of refusing a lawful order,'' Halbig told The Reporter of Vacaville. ``We can't pick and choose which order we will follow and which we will not.''

I am afraid it wont be temporary, folks.

One "suitcase" nuclear bomb made from readily available plutonium in the D.C. or NYC area will cause our country to go belly up -- Y2K or not.

Its a trusim that the USA has more than pissed off many other countries - not just the Islamic world. it's just a question of how and where the US (and England) will reap a pay-back. Apart from the obvious, look for attacks in january 2000 at infrastructure targets that are already in trouble e.g. Rail lines in the boonies being blown up, electricity lines likewise etc.etc. Its a trusim that the USA has more than pissed off many other countries - not just the Islamic world. it's just a question of how and where the US (and England) will reap a pay-back. Arc,

Could you please define anti-federal? The spin out of the media has been to label anyone who reads the Bible, claims to be Christian, a Patriot who loves his country, stands against or makes non-pc comments about the government and their well documented misdeeds against the American people or should I say sheeple, are TERRORISTS. And the list goes on and on...

Oh, BTW, you would be labeled a TERRORIST if you are preparing for y2k. You know, hoarding food, which is in abundent supply right now. Strange, I thought that the word "hoarding" was a term used when items were in short supply.

I would be very leary of any of the comming terrorist attacks that will be happening here, in the US. The spin will be to label the comming attacks on the Militia or Patriot groups. Remember the Militia group that was associated with the OK City bombing? Turned out they were all feds, according to Tulsa Ok court documents in the trial of Carol Howe. Court documents, your federal government, not some conspiracy nuts imagination.

Would you trust Klinton with your wife or daughter? Why would you trust him or his chi-com loving buddies to protect us or tell the truth about any terrorist activity? I submit that they "Klinton & Co." are the real TERRORISTS! Just ask an Iraqi or Sudanese.

Yes, being a terrorist would be a good reason for the govt. to watch you, wouldn't it? Actually, the federal government is trying to enact legislation even as we speak (albeit somewhat deterred by the so-called trial), to enact the "Know Your Neighbor" program (also known as Profiling). This is to be implemented by all banking institutions. If you exhibit ANY "unusual" banking activity such as withdrawing more money this month than you have averaged the past 4 or 5 months, then the bank has a legal duty to document your activity as criminal suspect and forward the documents including all of your personal profile to the IRS, FBI, and other investigative government groups. It is being proposed under the guise of "drug dealer control". So, I say to you, if this indeed passes, be prepared to be labeled a suspected criminal when you withdraw your funds from the bank this year. Even if nothing happens to you in the way of conviction, the activity of being investigated and your file will be placed in the "at risk" category from then on. What better way to get the feds on your case? Be labeled a suspected criminal. It's almost as good as being a SUSPECTED TERRORIST. This information was brought to lite by y2knewswire and further covered by wired.com

Here is an excerpt of the article in the newsletter: ---------paste--------------- It seems that people are waking up to the apparent fact that Big Brother has arrived. Just in time for Y2K, too, because there's no better way to discourage people from withdrawing cash than to turn them into criminals for doing so.

Now, one of the most highly-credible Internet news sources anywhere has covered the item. Check out WIRED news: http://www.wired.com/news/news/politics/story/16749.html (the same story is also posted on Fox News under the 'Sci-Tech' heading)

Did you know what happens, exactly, when the bank thinks you're engaged in suspicious activity? Here's what the WIRED story reports:

"When a bank detects any "suspicious activity," current regulations require that the company complete a five-page report that includes the customer's name, address, Social Security number, driver's license or passport number, date of birth, and information about the transaction."

Where does it go?

"The bank sends the information to a computing center in Detroit, where it becomes part of the Suspicious Activity Reporting System, a mammoth searchable database jointly administered by the IRS and FinCEN that went online in April 1996. Over a dozen agencies -- including the FBI, IRS, Secret Service, bank regulators, and state law enforcement -- share access to the data. "

Government officials, of course, say this is *not* overly intrusive. Not by their standards, of course. They think privacy is really not necessary if you're obeying the law anyway. Only criminals have to worry about being monitored. Sounds a lot like the mentality of a Police State. --------end paste----------

Government is trying to make sure to scare us into not taking our money out of the banks (like it is really there - however we know it isn't ***really***). If they can't scare us, then you can bet banks will close the physical doors and make the public use ATM's to withdraw cash, which will probably have a $50.00 or $100.00 limit of withdrawal per day......if that much. Cash rationing.

-- Mr. Kennedy (y2kPCfixes@MotivatedSeller.com), January 23, 1999.

I hope the Suspicious Activity Reporting System building is the first place that loses it's power. When will we ever have a " Know your Government " system...

ROTFL... wow, now theres a concept!

Arc,

I know where you are comming from, I used to think the same way. I didn't intend to flame. I used to own a truck, 18 wheeler, until Klintons taxes hit. They got all the money, I paid the bills. Why do I mention my trucking experience? I had the opprotunity to travel to every state in the US, including Alaska, excluding Hawaii. I have seen allot of injustice, innocent victims of our government abound. I saw the NW logging industry devistated by an owl, whole towns were abandoned by most population. I saw the US Federal Marshalls, armed to the teeth, turning away devistated US families at the Canadian-Alaskan border. Who did they turn away? The unemployed loggers from the NW. They were going to the North Slope where we had 10,000 jobs available. Congress immediatly shut that down, enviorment was the excuse again, 1,500+ lost our jobs on the pipe line. We acctually had to get dinner from a dumpster after our savings ran out. Alaska had 3 employees in the unemployment office in Anchorage, 5 months later I recieved unemployment bennies, I was back home by then in MI.

NAFTA is another, I spent many days on our borders. Did you know that Ashley truck lines was one of the biggest drug transport outfits our government had at one time? NAFTA has really helped the feds narcotic bus., you wouldn't know that unless you spent time on the border, a real eye opener. How about the CIA admitting that they were involved in the shipping of drugs to the street gangs, as reported in the San Jose Mercury News? That came out a few months ago.

World Trade Center Bombing? How about the FBI? Who do you think supplied the anfo and detinators. Who do you think showed the "terrorists" how to set it all up and make it go BOOM!? According to court documents it was the FBI, as reported in the Wall Street Journal.

Waco. I made many runs to Waco. I spoke with a Waco fire dept Capt. He told me the whole Branch Davidian attack was murder. There was no reason for it. Kohresh lived in town, not to far from where I met the Capt., he could have been picked up at any time. In fact, the sherrif deputies practiced at the Davidians shooting range. If you haven't seen the tape "Waco: Rules of Engagement" I suggest you find a copy, The unedited version. It shows who the real TERRORISTS are. I did not agree with the theology of the Davidians. Since when does the fed have the right to use millitary troops against women and children for their beliefs? And murder them in cold blood as they try to escape. I ask you Arc, do you trust this group, that runs the government, to have your best interests in mind. This might be us in a few months, getting Davidinised. Think about it.

Remember, if we are preparing, we have already been deemed TERRORISTS. Just as the people in Waco were.

I DO NOT condone terrorism of any sort. Nor do any of the people I associate with. We are just more aware of who the enemy is, and how they operate.

Patriot,

We are with you. I must tell the others so that they can understand that I do not belong to any group. However for every member of a militia group there at least ten who are making the same preparations. To those of you who have a T.V. induced mental picture of who the militia / patriot are, redneck and poorly educated let me set the picture straight. These people are your neighbors and coworkers. They are of every work skill and social status, I hate that term. Judges, doctors, programmers, lawyers, farmers, construction workers, truck drivers and you name it.

They all have one thing in common. They want a better country for their children and freedom from slavery. Their most powerful weapon is the written and spoken word. If God forbid that dosn't work then things will revert to the AR-15.

"Those who are willing to give up freedoms for security deserve neither." And will have neither. Sorry can't remember the source for the quote.

Thank you Arc, Ed,

I have been sounding the alarm for a 10 years now, not easy. I get a little defensive in forums like this, get laughed at allot, etc, etc... Family used to think I was nuts, until I started reporting the news months in advance, that has awaken a few people. The NWO crowd are sooooo predictable.

It is nice to see people comming on line with a sense that all is not as "they" would have us believe. y2k might just be a blessing in disguise, for the remnant that is, the ones who have eyes to see and ears to hear. I think that "they" know their time is short. People are waking up, y2k or no y2k. "They" may have the kingdom now, but not for long. Just waiting for that sickle to drop. I hate tares.

And yes, the so called evil patriot movement, as the fed would have the sheeple believe, might just be our last line of defence. I work, most of my friends are big 3 execs, engineers, you know. I live in a nice neighboorhood, have great neighbors and all that. My freinds and neighbors are slowly waking up. They have a feeling that something is not quite right. Most have no idea about y2k, but are getting ready, quietly. It is funny, they are preparing, but for what they have no idea. They just feel that they have to prepare. I have tried to tell them about y2k, they don't understand, but they are preparing. Odd isn't it?

Not sure how or why, but missed this post earlier......just now ran across it as I was looking at New Answers to Older Postings.......

Just wanted to say "Thanks" for recognizing my posts and reinforcing that I'm not totally off the deep end. I've also tried for several years to convince people that the government was overstepping the boundries as compared to what our "Founding Fathers" origionally intended and put together, but to no avail........People seem to be too greedy, too busy, and in general just not interested as long as their life was going along smoothly.........

As I told someone else, I would feel much better a year from now, if I knew more people like you lived across the street, around the corner, or down the block from my husband and I........

Keep spreading the news.......maybe one of these days people will listen..........or wish they had!!!!!!!!!! After all.....the worst "they" can do to us is kill us :):):)

Government, ours and any other's lies to it's people all of the time. We started, probably in the war against Mexico. It was established that the Nueses river was the boundry with Mexico. We then decided that it should be the Rio Grande. When we found Mexicans in what we called our country, we attacked. Remember the Maine. Facts recently revealed indicate that the Maine blew up in Havana harbour due to an accident. Hell, we went to war with Spain on that one. More recent history: How about the Tonkin Gulf. We know now that those little yellow people did not attack our fleet with speed boats. We got Viet Nam out of that one. Remember that our government denied dropping bombs on Cambodia? I would urge you all to search for, "USS Liberty" (I have no cut and paste capacity) American Navy war ship sunk by the Israelis without even an apology. Medals passed out in secret so as not to insult the Israelis. Don't put anything past the government regardless of their party.

Dear Mr. Kennedy,

You recently wrote the following on the Ed Yourdon y2k News Group:

Actually, the federal government is trying to enact legislation even as we speak (albeit somewhat deterred by the so-called trial), to enact the "Know Your Neighbor" program (also known as Profiling). This is to be implemented by all banking institutions.

You are in error about our recent initiative targeted toward those dishonest citizens who have something to hide, as the name of this outstanding regulatory effort to protect the children is actually:

Know Your Customer

However, Mr. Kennedy, we wish to congratulate you for your public- spirited proposal of a new Federal system with accompanying regulations:

Know Your Neighbor

We think this has tremendous possibilities for protecting the children and other honest citizens who have nothing to hide. We will be bringing you in to discuss your proposal. You'll see us in the place where there is no darkness.

Thank you for your creative contribution to the smooth functioning of our state, and I hope we can count on you to inform your neighbors that war is peace, ignorance is strength, and my personal favorite, freedom is slavery.

Did anyone pick up on the blatant scapegoat tactic that Clinton issued in connection with the "terrorist" spin? He emphasized at length the vunerability of our computer systems in all aspects to terrorist infiltration. Now, at any length, the government can claim that any Y2K ill effects were of "terrorist" activity and sabotage without having any liability what-so-ever. The set-up is in place. Nice wild-card the "government" has played on the majority of the public that leans toward being computer-illiterate. Do you see the connections? He made these statements a day and a half after briefly skirting the Y2K issue in the State of the Union supress...ah, address.
