We can all see what is happening here upon this forum and my question is; Am I seeing more "Celebrity's get out of the main spotlight of the news for their reasons of "Y2K" ? Was Michael Jordon's real intent in "retiring" was to prepare for Y2K ? Did Sen. Livingston leave the Govt not because he had an affair,but because he knows what will be happening soon? And what about Uncle Newt ? Former Speaker of the House, Did he get a final Ok from the President "that's it's ok to leave and prepare for Y2K??? There's very little comments from the Hollywood scene concerning their plans or thoughts concerning the news of today,that we all are concerned about. Is there info about their concerns ,Haven't read or seen their posts here? Not that's it really that important but "I still want to Know " . Furie...

Hi Furie. I don't know about the athletes but You would be hard pressed to find a member of the Hollywood crowd that doesn't have a second home in the Rocky Mountains. The Presidents ex press secretary, Mike McCurry, moved to a ranch in Montanna. A lot of the wealthy lawyers and realtors from the Dallas Ft. Worth area are buying large tracts of land just to the west of Gilmer Tx. and building rural retreats. A friend of mine worked on one of these recently and said the house was set up for off-grid, completely encased in copper mesh for EMP protection, and loaded with high tech communications gear. All of these places I have looked at are built far back from the roads in easily defended locations. All of them are of brick or stone construction and have small lakes built adjacent to the houses, and all entrances are blocked by remote control gates with surveilence cameras.

An Open Letter to Michael Jordan,

The following excerpt from the Wednesday, January 13, 1999 edition of the Wilmington Morning Star (a New York Times subsidiary) illustrates how your hometown remembers you:

But for the people who knew Jordan in the old days, the memories aren't of game-winning baskets, or the time he scored 63 points in a playoff loss to the Boston celtics in 1986. An Open letter to the Lawyers and Realtors from the Dallas Ft. Worth area:

Though born in Nebraska, I was raised in Dallas (1951-1968). My early learnings of life came from the teachers and students at Stephen J. Hay, Thomas J. Rusk, and Thomas Jefferson (my most valued lessons came from an "extended family" led by Susan Alice Cox at Woodrow Wilson).

My father, Crittenden Curtis Jarvis, was a general counsel at E- Systems until he retired in the early 1970's. At his memorial celebration at Oak Lawn Methodist Church in December of 1984, Charles Neal referred to him as "the obedient rebel". He was, and continues to be an example of what it means to be "aware of your immediate environment".

The is how his memory speaks to me now:

"It is a certainty (he was fond of this preface), that at this late date, the health and well-being of our children, our future, demands of us to prepare in place."

Those of you who attended the Thomas Jefferson High School 30th reunion last June, "Did you notice Charlie Allen's child and the glows of joy attendant?" I did. And one month later, I learned about the challenges of evoked by "a simple software constraint called Y2K".

The health and well-being of Charlie's child, my children, your children may very well be influenced by whether we disconnect and run, or connect and prepare in place.

The celebrity population has enough money to do as they want. They are not "role models" for our preparation. They will not speak out on their preparations, as they have enough hassel from the reporters and general population as it is. The point of relocating for y2k reasons is "PROTECTION". To disclose preparations and locations would defeat the purpose, especially for celebrity status people.

Our focus should be on our own families, and of the elderly that may not have resources to buy extra food, alternative heat, alternative lights, extra medicines, etc. Tabloid mentality will be quickly brushed away when the real events take place.
