Some other post said it snowed in Hawaii because of the high mountain. How high is it?

Mauna Kea is 13,796 feet above sea level and Mauna Loa is 13,677 feet. Mauna Kea is the tallest mountain in the world when measured from it's bas more than 2 miles beneath the ocean (about 31,000 ft).

i know for a fact that it snowed on the big island sometime in the year of 2001...my high school's hiking club took a trip to the big island and they said it snowed there...they had a great time and took lots of pictures
