Is Seeing Believing?

I'm on the verge of buying my first digital camera and have narrowed the search to the Toshiba PDR M1 and the Olympus D340L. Feature per feature, I'm leaning toward the Olympus.

But when I used the comparometer, in almost every shot, the Olympus photo was much more pink or warm than the Toshiba, and sometimes not as sharp. Is there an easy offset to use with the Olympus so that the photos render colour more naturally (i.e. less pink)?

A lot of people systematically apply photoshop filters on the pics after the fact to color balance.

You sure you don't want optical zoom on a camera? You'll be pissed if you buy a cam and realize you wanted the zoom.

I don't know if it will make a difference or not, but Oly is updating the D340, to the D-340R. The new model will have increased light sensitivity, so there's some likelihood that they'll have adjusted color as well. Don't have a ship date yet, but it's supposed to be soon...
