I bought a storm technology totalscan at best buy 5 months ago. I have yet to recieve the $50 rebate that I sent in. There was no telephone # on the manual, but there was a web site. www.stormtech.com Ive been trying to access there site now for 3 months and every time it says that the "server is down" Does this company still exist?? If so does anyone have there phone number??? Thanks aaron

Storm Technology has called it quits, declaring defeat in a price war that eventually priced the scanner maker right out of business.

The company announced Monday that it has converted its Chapter 11 bankruptcy case to a Chapter 7 filing, which will lead to liquidation of all assets under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.

The eight-year-old Storm, once considered a rising star among makers of inexpensive computer scanners, greeted callers Monday with a dismal message: "We will be closed as of November 26 forward. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you."

For Storm customers worried that service contracts won't be worth the paper they are printed on, the company offered little consolation.

Through its public relations firm, Storm said it is "unclear" what type of service and support its customers can expect. A Storm spokesperson said that more information would be available for existing customers in the days to come.

Storm's original Chapter 11 petition was filed October 21, but the firm said Monday in a statement issued to the press that a trustee has been appointed to administer the case and liquidate the firm's remaining assets.
