Vegeterian food in Hawaii

greenspun.com : LUSENET : About Hawaii : One Thread

My fiance is a vegetarian (nothing that had a mother, which includes fish and poultry), and doesn't like things that are creamy or pudding-y. From what I can tell, the "hawaiian" foods are mostly meats (roast pig, fish, etc) and poi (which is pudding-like). Is there anything he can eat at restaurants that serve "hawaiian" food? Or would he be eating mostly italian or chinese food there, just as he does at home?

Not to worry, there are lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Most of the restaurants have salad and/or fruit bars. Lots of potatos, rice, yams, sweet potatos, but on the Hawaiian side, there is taro, limu (seaweed) and breadfruit. For dessert, there is haupia which is made with coconut.
