Epson Photo 700 prints a bit dark

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I just bought a kodak dc260 and a Epson photo 700. For the most part I have been very pleased with the output at the printer. I do have one slight problem that has been bugging me. The printed output is always a bit darker than what i see on the monitor. Why is that? Is there anything I can do to compensate for this so that my printed output comes out a bit brighter? Overall I am happy but It would be 100% better if i could fix this problem. I use photoshop 5.0 when printing.

The problem more likely centers on the monitor than the printer, as there's so much variability in monitors. If you're printing from Photoshop, you can probably come up with a standard gamma correction using the middle slider of the "Levels" control that you can routinely apply right before you print. Also check the setup controls for the printer in the print driver. I don't have a 700, but my older Epson has a setting for lightness/darkness of the printout.
