Colorspan Displaymaker 6100 running on onyx 4.5

greenspun.com : LUSENET : PosterShop Talk : One Thread

Hi, My questions are as follows: 1)Why does the colorspan displaymaker can only print with a max of 300 dpi ????

2)why does this printer only print using Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. this has been tested with the Light Fast Endura Chrome inks, and profilers. these inks are bought from colorspan.

3) why can we not measure the Ink Limit, we are currently using a GretagMacbeth Spectroscan.

NB : I am using onyx 4.5 with the bigcmyk profile and our own.

The colorspan 4xxx, 5xxx and 6xxx all have 300 dpi writing engines, it is in the wide gamut mode that the output "appears" to print at a higher resolution. In Colorspans literature they tout it as "comparable 1200 dpi" but not actual 1200.

Your "green-top" cartridges have only 50 nozzles and therefore can only generate about 300 dpi. The firmware in the DM Hi-Res8 series is matched to this limitation. You can use CMYK and the medium and light inks (8-colors) just like any other Colorspan user. You measure ink limit with your own eyes, and the linearization with a spectroscan (check to see that your device is supported by Onyx) We have ben using a DM 6000 (NOT 6100) for over a year with Postershop with no pro
