Meter Problems with F1n

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon FD : One Thread

I have an Fin and when i try and meterwith it the meter needle shows a slight deflection. I metered a scene with the F1n the meter reads F2 at an aperture of 1.4 and at a shutter speed of 4 seconds. The needle goes upto 8 and then settles down at 2 when I push the shutter release button slightly. If I keep the shutter speed at 1/125 sec then the needle just remains put,it doesn't move. I get the same reading in the aperture priority mode. The same scene when metered with another camera shows a reading of 1/250 sec at F1.4. The battery check meter shows that the battery is OK. The ASA speed is 100. Any suggestions what the problem might be and any suggestions how to solve it. Thanks, Sharat.

Try using a NEW battery.

Had the same problem with my F1New. Although the manual states that the shutter will not fire if there is anything wrong with the battery (insufficient power outputit will. My battery was still o.k. according the camera testing button. Changing it solved the problem. But now I have to keep notes for that camera, or switch the battery to my A1 for checking.
