What is DVCD?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I own a copy of Rush Hour on DVCD. I thought it was a normal VCD as my copy of God of Gamblers also has DVCD (Digital VCD). Rush Hour's only on one CD and it has the normal VCD logos and stuff. My PC software (Xing) plays it fine but my mate's VCD player won't. Any ideas?

Sounds like a greenbook VCD. Try to open it with your cd-rom drive without the mpeg software if the cd-rom can't open it then it's probably a greenbook cd like the older cd-i disc. Most VCD players can't play greenbook vcds because they don't use ISO standards.
