While surfing I came to this web site. www.usda.gov/aphis/FSWG/ Along with other Y2k information is a case study -A farmer prepares for the year 2000. Farmer Mr. R.U Ready has heard about Y2k. After doing his research he prepares a flow chart. From this he decides to prepare his farm and family for the problems ahead. Mr. R.U. Ready discusses buying fertilizer, chemicals, seed ( he realizes that since seed comes from the southern hemisphere he might need to buy two years worth) fuel (large storage tanks) and his livestock concerns. He says, "If things are really bad, we may be bartering for butcher-or worse, trying to protect the herd from bandits" He wonders if the government will enact martial Law "to secure domestic order."

This article was a link from the USDA page to USDA Food Supply Working Group. Could this be an umbrella group which is being referred to (Abrams File) that will work with the private sector. I may be wrong, but it seemed like I read that the government stated they would rather have an umbrella group working with the citizens as not to cause panic. There is no doubt that the USDA endorses this web site. This site addresses many concerns of the food suppy and Y2k.
